Present were Pastor Crown, Shawn Leonard (presiding), Burt Endsley, Vicar Grams, Stephanie Newland, Martin Berndt, Michele Price, and Tony Brown. The minutes of the April 10 meeting were approved. Pastor Crown gave his report: He will be away from July 1 to July 27, for vacation and to attend the synodical convention, July 13Ä21. Vicar Grams will be here, and Pastor Crown is arranging for other pastors to officiate at Communion services. The annual Planning Meeting could be postponed until August, after the projects are finished. After the garth is remodeled, we should have a service of rededication. The Worship Committee will plan something for September. The congregation should have a shower for Mrs. Grams, as well as a farewell party for her and the Vicar. He suggested having them the same day. Vicar Grams pointed out that Sue would be given at least two or three showers when they got back to Wisconsin, and carrying things in their car might be a problem. Pastor Crown said he would fix it so there was a single gift, not too big. The next vicar should arrive August 9, 10, or 11. The installation would be Sunday, August 19, and a welcoming party would be held that day or the following Sunday. On Sunday, June 10, the congregation would have a party for Tom and Catherine Bindewald, to celebrate her permanent arrival. He thanked Rudy Schroeter for fixing the gate to the parsonage back yard. He would be away in Wisconsin for a funeral, from May 10 to May 16. He and the Vicar would be absent May 20Ä22 for the Pastors' Retreat. Back in time for the Congregation Meeting on May 22. Burt Endsley reported that he had talked with Ken Coverdell about the projects that were approved on Sunday. He hasn't got the final approval from the city, but the current plan is to take out the big tree next Monday. Jim Bartlett had suggested that the bricks removed from the garth could be replaced between the sidewalk and the street on Fulton. This sounded like a good idea; it would require some volunteer effort to knock the old mortar off the bricks. The screened air inlets to the crawl space need to have dirt cleared away from them. This dirt has allowed termites to invade in the past. Vicar Grams asked about the church signs. Burt said, well at least Ken's crew were going to put an electrical conduit under the bricks at the corner of Melville and Middlefield; that would be needed to light the sign that would finally go there. The Congregation Meeting would be in two weeks, with election of officers. We needed to find a president, vice-president, secretary, and assistant treasurer, and one member for the Campus Mission board. It was agreed that Shawn and Pastor Crown would form the nominating committee. Pastor Crown suggested David Sacarelos for the vacancy on the Board of Education. Martin Berndt said the windows of the parsonage were really urgent. Burt said he'd speak to Ron Hall about them. The meeting was closed with a prayer by Pastor Crown, at 8:55 p.m. Respectfully submitted, A.F.R.Brown, Vice-President
